Upgrading a building will allow it to produce more of its byproduct at once, thus giving you better cash flow or faster production rates. Every level has a gold “par” time to reach, and if the player wins they are rewarded with stars to upgrade their buildings with. Playing this game is an exercise in micro- and time-management. The cuckoos from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past we’re far better looking feathered creatures than the chickens found in this game. The farm graphics are a tad muddy, and the sprites used for the animals are a terribly low resolution. I’ve seen screenshots of the game running online, and this port to the PlayStation isn’t done a bit of justice. Unfortunately, the graphics are actually pretty abhorrent. As for the animals, it seems each sound effect was ripped off from my “See n’ Says” toy. The bouncy, friendly music doesn’t seem to get grating at all, and if I were to compare it to another soundtrack, I’d say it closely resembles that of Theme Hospital. It’d be a dead lie if I told you I wasn’t humming the theme music when not playing it’s a nice little catchy tune that almost serves as a fanfare for the game. Soon, the supplies (which disappear mere seconds after landing) float down from the sky with parachutes, and this is where it gets tricky and costly if you aren’t careful: You must have absolute pixel-perfect accuracy when clicking, or you’ll wind up with a giant field of grass that you didn’t really want or need. Sounds good, right? The controls serve their purpose well, but they could’ve used some refinement.įor example, when you use the airplane to drop supplies into your farm, shadows will appear scattered on the ground. The “X” button will place a field of grass or collect a resource, square will also place a field of grass or refill your water supply so that you may place more grass. The two main buttons that are used in game are used for just about every action you can make. The game isn’t necessarily difficult to control, but it is extremely touchy. As I started the game I noticed that I was just dropped into the thick of it with nothing more than a chicken and a mouse cursor. This game could have truly benefitted from some form of written instructions. This makes the gameplay a little frantic and fast paced but hey, it’s the pizza business! In order to win, you’ve got to juggle production, money making, harvesting and feeding your animals. This title is geared towards younger gamers, or any gamer that really likes to micromanage. Farm Frenzy: Pizza Party charges you with collecting resources to make pizza ingredients in increasingly difficult, timed scenarios. If you like farm animals, video games and pizza, it seems Alawar Entertainment has answered your weird prayers. Unfortunately, the PSN version doesn’t look as clean.
